Did you know the human face has 43 muscles? It's amazing right?!
All of our muscles, facial ones included are surrounded by fascia also known as connective tissue. Connective tissue is mainly comprised of collagen and elastin. This tissue protects our muscles from tears and over-stretching. It also helps connect our muscles to ligaments and tendons, which in turn, attach to our bones. It also helps with the exchange and transfer of oxygen, nutrients and fluids between cells of our tissues.
The muscles of our face work very hard every day! We never think that they may need some massage and care too! When we are stressed, we tend to clench our jaw muscles and tighten the muscles of our face, especially across the forehead. Try now to just let go and relax your face muscles. Just let the tension drop off. It's surprising isn't it? Most of us walk around with tension in our faces without even knowing it!
The face is a part of the body that gets overlooked during a massage but it contains many parts that are integral for our health! Think about it: our ears, eyes, nose, sinuses, our mouths, teeth, jaw and skull. Not to mention our skin! The skin is the largest organ in the human body!
Introducing my “Rejuvenating Face Massage: The Natural Facial”. This 30 minute treatment helps to drain lymph and sinuses, ease tension, improve circulation, stimulate natural collagen production, relax and uplift the muscles of the face and reduce inflammation. It promotes healthy muscle and connective tissue function and structure, which in turn can reduce fine lines, improve sagging skin and reduce under eye circles. In this treatment, I use: targeted massage techniques, dry brushing, smooth and chilled quartz stones, hematite stones, acupressure and a warm towel wrap.
Dry brushing exfoliates the skin, boosts circulation, moves lymph fluids and sedates the nervous system.
Natural quartz is a master healing crystal that helps to stimulate circulation, support the immune system and promote the healthy flow of energy. It has been used to treat headaches, exhaustion and skin disorders. It is also helps in eliminating toxins from the system.
Natural hematite helps to ground one's energy systems. It absorbs toxic energy and promotes calmness by lifting energetic vibration. It helps promote healthy circulation and has been known to benefit the liver and blood. It has been used to treat insomnia, muscle cramps and a number of blood disorders. It reduces inflammation and supports tissue and muscle healing.
Acupressure uses the same Traditional Chinese Medicine principles as acupuncture but without the use of needles. Applying pressure to specific points along the meridians and channels of the body helps the body to balance its energy, remove stagnation, move fluids and enhance circulation, reduce pain, boost immunity and reduce stress.
